Pinter / Chekhov / Ayckbourn
This February Woodhouse Players gives you the chance to see three plays in one evening,
by three of the biggest name playwrights this side of Shakespeare:
The Bear by Anton Chekhov is a high energy melodrama,
as Smirnov comes to collect the debts he's owed by the beautiful
widow Popova - this is an original translation by Woodhouse's own
multilingual Basil Clarke. Between Mouthfuls is a
comedy by Alan Ayckbourn - Britain's most prolific playwright -
which takes us to a restaurant where two couples choose starters,
main courses and see if they get to dessert. And finally One
for the Road by Harold Pinter is a powerful and frightening
piece about the state's power over others.
One for the Road contains some language which
may not be suitable for children.
