What happens when power and truth come into conflict?

Bertolt Brecht's classic play depicts the struggles of Galileo with the Catholic Church over his discoveries about the movements of the planets. When an scientific idea undermines people's religion, should it be co-opted or suppressed? How strong can science be when its findings are heretical and its conclusions contrary to common sense?

Written in the context of Nazi Germany, this play now takes on a new relevance as the battle between religion and science plays out in modern American classrooms. This production uses unusual staging and new technology to give a unique spin to this story.
