"As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found
himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect."
So begins Kafka's unsettling tale of transformation, in which Samsa disappears into a shady life, hidden away from the world by his distraught family. Berkoff's script calls for physical theatre techniques, unusual staging and the imagination of the audience.

Phyl Romeril: ALWAYS in search of something different, Woodhouse Players chose Steven Berkoff's adaptation of Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis for their summer production. It was their first attempt at physical theatre and the production was well staged and equally well performed.
Their use of facial expression, gesture, posture, mime and narration. Directors Khadija Cheethan-Slade and Carla Maclean were obviously well schooled in this style of theatre.
